Meet Betsy Jho! My 2020 JL Sport became mine on a wintery day in February of her birth year. All the miles are mine and all hers. She is named after my childhood best friend that the world tragically lost in April of 1999. Betsy was not only my best friend, but she was also my soul sister. We were inseparable. We created happiness, joy and adventure together in the small town of Fenton, Michigan.
My Jeep, Betsy Jho, represents our dreams of traveling and experiencing the world. She represents our purpose to connect with the world through love and laughter. My jeep is our freedom just as our bicycles were as two young girls envisioning smiles in states far from just Ohio. My jeep must be a part of my Laurie Tours because she is my adult bicycle. Because she is my connection to our friends and to new friends around the country I’ve yet to meet. Other jeep owners understand this.
There is a jeep community that creates an instant sense of comradery and kinship in exploration. We have special waves and spread love through rubber duckies left on windshields and door handles. We all have each other’s back, just like when we were kids. Traveling as a single woman across the United States, I never once worried if I had a flat tire. Jeepers will come pull you out of the deepest hole to help one another.
That is my career in a nutshell. That is friendship. Most of us Midwest Gen X’ers had hopes and dreams of leaving our small towns to find something that had a purpose far beyond working for automobile plants and farming. I am gonna make it girlfriend and you’re coming with me. Betsy Jho and Laurie forever.
